A Gift of Love

As a regular part of the site I want to have articles that are helpful and supportive. I want to write this for all the parents and families with special needs children no matter if they are young, or grown up or in between.

As parents you wonder things like what will happen, how will he/she do everyday things there are a million questions and worries on a daily basis. As a child/young adult growing up with a disability there are the doctors, hospitals, physio etc and "the rules".

No matter if you are the parents or the child there are difficult times when there seems to be no answer, as well as happy times. The key to hanging in there is knowing there are answers and to keep looking.

If I could say something to every parent it would be never give up on yourself or your family. That is the strongest bond there is. As parents you know in your heart what is best for your family, have the strength and courage to follow it.

For all the children, be who you are, dream your dreams and make them come true. You are in the driver seat, be willing to try, you may be surprised at the result.

I would like to thank all the people who have helped me to dream and achieve my goals large and small. A thank you should be given to those who doubted me and thus made me say "I will prove you wrong."

I wish to acknowledge the love and never ending support of my parents. Each of you has always given your best and been willing to do what it takes to do what is needed. I want to say thank you for teaching me how to think outside the box and giving me the courage and freedom to be myself. I know it was not easy.

I would like to close by saying each day is an adventure, live it no matter what.
