The workshop will show participants a variety of adaptive computer technology software to allow persons with disabilities to access the computer. The workshop focuses on:

• magnifier
• text to speech
• onscreen keyboards
• switch input

Participants will see that adaptive technology is available to almost anyone! For example, Darrell will show how $20 worth of parts found in a hardware store can make a switch adapted mouse enabling switch clicks to replace mouse clicks.

• Does your mouse move too fast?
• Are the letters on the screen too small?
• Do you need step by step instructions on how to make changes in Windows?

If you answered "yes" to any of these questions, this workshop is for you. This workshop will show you how to make adjustments to the Windows environment so that it is customized just for YOU! There are lots of "tips and tricks" in Windows that can save you time and energy - you can find out about them in this fun learning environment!

Armed with tools now found in many schools and homes, learn how to create customized stories complete with graphics, sounds and animation. Create stories for fun or for learning. Ideal for children unable to hold or read storybooks, for those who have limited access to ethnic- or cultural-relevant storybooks, and for those with their own stories to share. The only limits are your creativity and imagination!

Child's Play is a adaptive technology assesment process, which is fun and interactive to determine appropriate hardware and software needed to enable an individual with specific needs to use a computer. Suitable for children and those who dare to still be children at heart.
